It was introduced that Banliang ancient village was firstly built in the late Song Dynasty and early Yuan Dynasty, and the most prosperous period of it was in Ming and Qing Dynasty. It is about 600years old. All the villagers there are with same family name and the same ancestor- Emperor Wu of Han Dynasty. It is a typical clan town in south Hunan.
The whole village covers 3 square kilometers areas. It looks grand for the expansion based on the mountain. It is with wide vision in front of the village and the small rivers circle around the whole village. Three ancient ancestral temples are in front of the village. Ancient paths and flagging connect the roads of the village together. 70floor ancient tower, ancient stone bridge, temple, pavilion, old-style private school, ancient commercial street, ancient money shop, and etc. are available there. You may feel amazing when travelling in this ancient atmosphere.
More than 360 Ming and Qing Dynasty style buildings are well reserved in the ancient village. Carved beams and painted rafters which showed the excellent carved skills of ancient people are really incredible. Generally speaking, Banliang ancient village reserves patriarchal clan system, Confucianism tradition, concepts of Fengshui, philosophy ideas, construction skills, ecological theory, and some other ancient traditions of China. It was honored as the “No.1 village of south Hunan” which is with largest scale, best reservation condition, best Fengshui, and deepest cultural connotation.
